Who Are We?

We are a family owned canine training center , doggie day care and boarding kennel  located in Butler, PA.  Our staff is passionate and dedicated to the education and development of man's best friend.

What Do We Do?

*Obedience Training -Many people  and novice trainers believe that teaching a dog to sit, stay and speak is what obedience training is all about.  Fortunately, there are Certified Professional Trainers (CPT's) who are educated in the behavior or "misbehavior"of our furry friends who can diagnose problems such as play biting, separation anxiety, fear aggression or even dominance aggression, just to name a few.  In extreme cases these CPT's may be a dog's last chance at life.  Many times good dogs are euthanized because  they are classified as an aggressive or dangerously aggressive dog, when in reality the dog was never socialized and therefore was snapping at people or other dogs simply because he was never taught not to.  We at Eljay's honestly do believe that "Every Dog Deserves an Education."

*Specialty Training - Of course, everything you learn in life starts with the basics.  It's no different with Man's Best Friend.  Basic obedience is a must and logical before a dog is ready for advanced obedience.  Once obedience trained, the options are limitless for future training.  What's your fancy?  Agility work, tracking, scent detection, assistance dog work, or maybe you want to share your dog's love with others by doing therapy work.  Discuss your plans and goals with our Certified Professional Trainer.

*Puppy Pre-School  Pups from 8 to 16 weeks are at their peak learning age and our pre-school gets them ready to  live in this crazy and confusing world.  We teach the owners many very important things to know about first aid and the overall physical and mental care of their new puppy.  We socialize the pups with other puppies as well as humans through a series of "pass the puppy" exercises.  It is a great learning experience for the pups and the owners and alot of fun as well.

*Day Care   Very simply, we care for your dog while you're away for the day whether it be work or just a day out shopping.  The dogs play, learn, exercise and have fun.  They do get some rest periods and naps when they need them.  They are treated like our own.  Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available.

*Boarding  We now offer boarding for short and long term stays. Leave your dog with us and know that he/she is going to be treated like one of the family. One price fits all at Eljay's. No extra charge for exercising your pet or administering medications.   Reserve your spot well in advance for vacations etc. Our customers always come back.

***If you need emergency boarding, we will do all we can to see that your dog has a safe and loving place to stay.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide every dog with structure, boundaries and direction through humane training techniques.  Also, to assist the owners in developing a balanced scale of motivation, correction and praise, in order to build the best possible relationship with their loving companion.

Dedication:

I'd like to dedicate this business, first of all, to God for blessing me with my love for animals and at a second chance at life.  Also, to my doctors, who were very instrumental in getting me through my ordeal.  To my daughter Tina, for her encouragement to go back to school.  To my instructors, for the patience they showed me with my disability.  Lastly, to my wonderful wife, Patty, my two other daughters, Lisa and Kelly, and my eight precious grand children for whom make  my efforts all worth it.  May God bless them all. 

Special Dedication:

To my dog, Shiloh, who attended school with me and was my 24/7 companion.  He was taken from me at only 18 months of age by an out of control driver.  I'll miss you buddy, but never forget you.
